Air Baltic A220 to fly to Auckland as part of Airbus demonstration tour

On Friday the 1st of November Airbus is scheduled to fly a leased Air Baltic A220-300 to Auckland as part of their Pacific demonstration tour, assumedly to attain more orders from the region.

No arrival time has been given yet, but the aircraft is scheduled to arrive from Brisbane on the 1st, with static displays and demonstration flights for target airlines planned according to Airbus.

Currently Air Vanuatu is the only airline with the aircraft on order in the region.

The tour will begin at Air Vanuatu's hub in Port Vila before continuing to Sydney, Brisbane and then Auckland, where the aircraft will continue to Noumea, Port Moresby, Phnom Penh, Bangalore and Delhi where the tour will terminate.

This will be the first time an Airbus A220 has visited Auckland as well as New Zealand, however there is a possibility of Air Vanuatu flying their aircraft here after deliveries are completed.

Based in Latvia, Air Baltic was the launch customer for the Airbus A220-300, known then as the Bombardier CS300 before Airbus fully acquired the programme from the Canadian manufacturer in July 2018.
