Cathay Pacific inaugurates A350-1000 flights to Auckland

Landing today on the 28th of October at 12:46PM was the first commercial service of an Airbus A350-1000 to Auckland Airport by Cathay Pacific.

B-LXC flew the 10 hour 23 minute stint as Cathay 113 from Hong Kong, inaugurating a new service that will replace the previously operated 777-300ER over the summer period. It was also recently announced that the additional seasonal morning flight (CX188/CX199) will also be operated by the A350-1000, replacing the normally operated A350-900 on the route from December.

This was not the first visit of an A350-1000 to Auckland however, Airbus' own F-WLXV visiting in February of 2018 as part of Airbus' world demonstration tour.
One thing for certain is the Cathay Pacific aircraft didn't quite compare to the spectacle of the noisy and steep climbout on F-WLXV's departure during the tour.

There are currently no plans for other operators to fly the type here, however a possible future candidate could be Qatar Airways on their award-winning 18 hour flight from Doha to Auckland.

Following the landing from the air was Bruce Clarke, lucky enough to capture the aircraft from above in another new Airbus; but in helicopter form, an H130.
